Fuelling passion and progress in communities across Ontario.

Pioneer has been proudly serving Ontario motorists for almost six decades.

Committed to providing customers with the best possible value on each and every visit, Pioneer has stayed true to their name by constantly ‘pioneering’ new ways to offer great service and convenience.

The Pioneer Mobile App, built in partnership with Weever Apps, was a true Canadian-first accomplishment in the petroleum sector. At launch, it was the only industry app to offer real-time regular gas prices at every station within their Ontario network.

Pioneer Energy fuels passion for soccer across the province thanks to its exclusive partnership with Toronto FC. As the team’s Official Fuel Sponsor, Pioneer launched an innovative youth soccer program called Driven to Play.

Pioneer Mobile App.

Mobile applications have revolutionized the way we gather information. Consumers choose apps based on their needs and usually download many different apps to suit their lifestyle. The best apps are the ones that keep it simple, stylish, easy to use, and do a small handful of things really well.

Through its industry-leading app, launched in 2013, Pioneer addressed the needs of people on the move by providing useful information on-the-go. As consumer purchasing habits continue to be influenced by emerging technology, customers were able to interact with Pioneer in a brand-new way, through a tailored mobile environment.

With a simple tap, customers could view nearby sites and easily access site-level information. By using the app customers were able to:

  • view real-time regular gas prices
  • find the nearest Pioneer gas station
  • access real-time turn-by-turn directions
  • interact with a map of all Pioneer stations
  • sync Bonus Bucks loyalty accounts
  • connect with Pioneer on social media
Fuelling passion for the game.

Pioneer Energy has been fuelling passion for soccer across Ontario since 2013, thanks to its partnership with the province’s first professional soccer club.

As Official Fuel Sponsor for the Toronto FC, Pioneer put 15,000 co-branded Bonus Bucks loyalty cards into the hands of TFC season ticket holders. The cards were loaded with extra multipliers throughout the soccer season, giving TFC fans even more incentive to fill up at Pioneer. In addition to these exclusive offers and special promotions, TFC-branded Bonus Bucks cardholders also earned chances to win Free Gas for a Year, TFC Season Tickets, private player meet & greets, and autographed team jerseys every time they swiped their card.

Considering that 60% of TFC fans attend games from outside of Toronto, and 90% of them live within five kilometres of a Pioneer station, this program was a win-win for everyone involved.

Pioneer was given high visibility at BMO Field, home of the Toronto FC, with prominent branding and signage at the entrance gate, in concourse areas, and on in-stadium displays throughout the arena bowl and playing pitch.

Driven to Play.

The innovative Driven to Play program was launched in 2013 as part of Pioneer’s partnership with Toronto FC.

Under the program, thousands of youth soccer parents across Ontario received specially branded Bonus Bucks cards, loaded with special offers on game-time essentials like drinks, snacks, and fuel. Each time a card was swiped, they helped qualify their club for a chance to win a $10,000 Pioneer grant.

This partnership with Toronto FC allowed Pioneer to connect in a meaningful way with the communities they serve on a grassroots level and make a significant impact on youth soccer programs province-wide. Toronto FC has 25 affiliated youth soccer clubs in Ontario, which allowed Pioneer to make a difference in virtually every market where they do business.

The Driven to Play program has been described as a “fantastic shot in the arm” for youth soccer across Ontario by two-time $10,000 Pioneer grant winners Mount Hamilton Youth Soccer Club, who used their grant-money to support an Elite player development program, in hopes of developing TFC stars of the future.

The prize-winning team also took part in a ‘dream training day’ with Toronto FC players at the clubs BMO TFC Training Ground in Toronto. The experience of learning and playing at a professional soccer facility–and meeting their real-life TFC heroes–was highly motivating for the young players.
